World Rett Syndrome Congress
Friday 10th to Monday 13th
October 2008 in Paris
This event provides a rare
opportunity to hear and meet the top specialists in RS from all round the
world. This, the sixth World Congress, is being held in the heart of Paris,
near Notre Dame Cathedral at the Maison de la Mutualitι.
The international speakers
(from USA, China, Japan, Israel, Australia & Europe) include top clinical
geneticists, paediatricians, neurologists and experts in care &
management. Abstracts of speakers and other experts will be available in
a special book which will be published for the Congress.
Who is the Congress for?

Parents, carers and friends.
There will be the opportunity to listen to and talk with experts of all
kinds, read abstracts of work and presentations and meet parents and people
with RS. Come and meet people from the RSAUK; Yvonne Milne [President] Lorna
Jaffa [Vice President], Peter Oliver [Chairman], Ron Overton [Director] and
other trustees and staff. |

People with Rett syndrome?
It is hoped that they will have their own rooms with carers. At present
the safety issues are being addressed and further information will be
available in the next 2 weeks. [No cost, if available] |

Professionals who know about
Rett syndrome and others who wish to learn more.
Professionals with many different areas of expertise will find this syndrome
interesting as speakers and/or delegates. A wide variety of experts will
attend from, for example, researchers to clinicians, geneticists to people
involved in care, management and therapy of people who are disabled. There
will be opportunities to meet and talk in depth to other specialists.
NOTE: If you wish to speak and/or have your abstract published it must
be submitted by mid June [subject to review].

Cost
What are the costs per
person in Euros? (if registered before 19/9/08)
Medically qualified 300.
Partners 30.
Therapists 120. Partners 30.
Members of RSAUK, relatives and friends 50.
Students 80.
Accommodation - Please book separately see Congress website for
details of hotels varying between 50 and 300 per night for double room.
Lunch from local restaurants or take away sandwich shops.
Bike rental - Paris has a system called VELIB which only costs 1
per day!
Optional - Fancy Dress Gala night dinner with live music and
entertainment on Sunday 13th in the evening, at subsidised rate of 30.
Included in the cost will be
Congress documents and opening cocktail ceremony and coffee/tea. For
partners as above, except Congress documents.
